The Syria Campaign is seeking a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Consultant

The Syria Campaign is looking for a consultant to conduct an anti-racist audit of The Syria
Campaign’s team, board, processes and culture.

About us

The Syria Campaign is a small, fast moving and powerful human rights organisation that is
building new ways for digital and creative communications to have impact. We work to
support Syria’s heroes in the struggle for freedom and democracy, justice and
accountability, and civilian safety, partnering with civil society partners inside and outside
the country. We’ve moved beyond the limitations of an “online movement builder” or
traditional NGO, fusing the best elements of think tanks, creative agencies and digital
mobilisation to shift the narrative on Syria.

The Syria Campaign is a Syrian-led organization with a majority of the team identifying as
women. We are a small team of 10 people, based across Canada, Germany, Morocco,
Turkey, the US, and the UK.

Scope of work

Conduct an audit of The Syria Campaign’s practices, team and board to advise on how we
can infuse anti-racist and anti-colonial frameworks into our work and processes at all
levels. Some areas to examine are:
○ Recruitment
○ Pay equity
○ Professional Growth
○ Leadership
○ Work environment, organizational culture and values
○ Employee Handbook and Policies
○ Programmatic work, outputs and campaign priorities

Deliverables

Written audit outlining the process, results/findings, and recommendations for diversity,
equity and inclusion at The Syria Campaign.

We are additionally interested in training for our team to align on what anti-racism, power
and privilege means at The Syria Campaign, as well as tools and guidance on how we can
conduct our own internal audits moving forward to ensure this is sustainable and
engrained in our organization. These items may fit into the audit and budget, or could be
done as a follow up project.

Qualifications

We are looking for a consultant with experience working in an international context, with
experience in the Middle East a big plus.

Fees and Timeframe

The fee for this consultancy is $5,000.

How to Apply

We are an equal opportunity and inclusive employer and encourage applicants of all
backgrounds to apply. We do not and will not discriminate on the basis of age, race,
nationality or citizenship, gender expression or identity, religion, economic background,
disability, or sexual orientation.

To apply for this role, please send a CV to [email protected] with a cover letter
describing why you’re the ideal candidate. Please put ‘Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Consultant’ in the email subject line.

The consultancy will remain open until it’s filled.
