Development Director

The Syria Campaign works to end the conflict by elevating the voices of the country’s peaceful heroes – those trapped by the violence on all sides.

We’ve raised the profile of groups like the White Helmets rescue workers, helping secure them millions of dollars to continue their life-saving work. We’ve successfully campaigned to block Europe selling aviation fuel to the Assad regime, secured a UN resolution banning the trade in Syrian antiquities, and supported Syrian humanitarians calling out the problems at the heart of the UN’s flawed aid operation. All this and much, much more.

Our 12-person Syrian and international team has achieved a great deal in the past two years with the help of six-figure gifts from leading international philanthropists. But the situation on the ground and the shifting international context means the urgency to scale our work and impact has never been greater. That’s why we’re looking for an ambitious Development Director to lead a fundraising strategy for The Syria Campaign, covering individual and foundation funding sources.

You’ll be starting with a sackful of fantastic contacts at the highest levels but a relatively blank slate in terms of structure and future planning. We want someone who will see this for the exciting opportunity we think it is and is passionate about playing their part in our overall mission.

The position is a remote one and can be done anywhere in European, Middle Eastern or East Coast US time zones. We have small offices in DC, Berlin, Beirut, and London.

To apply for this role, please send a CV to [email protected] with a cover letter describing why you’re the ideal candidate. The position will remain open until filled.

This position is a full-time role with an initial 12-month contract. Salary commensurate with experience.
